This bag was made out of the entire pelt of a small coyote. It is lined with navy blue felt and features an abstract blue calico shoulder strap. The front panel is horsehide. The face has been rehydrated and shaped, and the eyes have been sewn shut. The entire hide has been treated with neatsfoot oil to keep it supple. I assembled it using a combination of hand sewing, machine sewing, and glue in order to make sure that the bag is durable and well put together. This bag was made to be used, not displayed! It is very primal looking and a unique way to carry your things around. You won't be able to keep your hands off all that soft coyote fluff!
This pelt was originally quite matted and although I did my best to detangle it there are several thin spots in the fur along the back of the pelt.
The coyote pelt used to make this bag was a roadkill pelt purchased from the lovely Miss Zhon from DeviantART. The horsehide was purchased from an Ebay seller and I do not know what it's original source is.
I used E-6000 for the glued parts because I simply didn't want to sew the horsehide by hand. I hate using glue - it's lazy and its a shortcut - but in this case it was necessary to save my fingers. The sewn portions were done using a standard hand sewing needle with nylon thread and a thimble to protect my fingers, and the machine sewn portions were done with a heavy duty needle and polyester thread (I think). I just used a standard sewing machine, nothing fancy but my sewing machine is a BEAST.
what kind of glue and needle + stitch to sew did you use?
its a really nice bag and im sure it will sell fast!
