Memento Mori Art Necklace

The title is both the name of the piece and the genre of art that it belongs to - the purpose of memento mori is to remind people of their own mortality. The raven is an obvious symbol of death, and I hand-sculpted the pendant to be skeletal in appearance in order to make the association even more obvious. I included the vaccine vial with blue beads in it to be reminiscent of sodium phenobarbital (so called "blue juice") which is often used to euthanize criminals and unwanted animals. Bone skulls, synthetic moonstone rounds, pressed glass ovals, and synthetic turquoise chips flesh out this heavily fringed necklace. It has been strung around a cotton cord for strength, and closes using a toggle clasp.

This is a completely one of a kind design. The pendant is hand sculpted using two-part epoxy clay, and is signed and dated on the back.
