Hyoid Bone Shadow Box by TarpanBeadworks Hyoid Bone Shadow Box by TarpanBeadworks
A shadow box of my own design, featuring most of a horse's hyoid apparatus and a horseshoe.

The horse to whom these hyoid bones belonged to was a registered Thoroughbred mare left to starve to death on a local farm. She died a natural death, but not a pleasant one. Hopefully the horseshoe will bring her the luck in death that she didn't have in life.

Private collection, not for sale.

What do I say other than thisisamazing?!
Vision of preserving the horse is an age old tradition and that is the only reason you get 4.5 stars for vision, but you have done to on such a way that still is very deep.
Like I said, this is exremely original and it's gorgeous!
The technique I think is beautiful, but I know nothing about putting things in a shadow box. Either way, the shadow box just makes it even prettier and even more beautiful, if possible. :)
The impact is immense! Horses don't deserve to suffer, and personally when I think about a malnutritioned horse, I think hipbones first, and seeing the bones, it really shows what I was thinking. No horse deserves to suffer, and you've given this horse a better hope in her afterlife :)

That is sad. D: Did her owner starve her to death on purpose or just out of neglect? Was there any legal consequence?

Trial is pending, I believe.

Aha. I sincerely hope justice is gotten for this poor horse.
