This listing is for a horsehair shoo fly tassel in black. This tassel measures approximately 4 1/2 inches in length and has a jump ring at the top for attachment. It has been decorated with seed beads in a simple geometric pattern.

I make my horsehair shoo fly tassels out of the ends of braids that would otherwise be thrown away. Each tassel may have hair from one or more donor horses, and I do not keep track of who's hair goes into each tassel.

All of my horsehair items are handmade by me using horsehair gathered from animals encountered through my work in the animal welfare field. Only a small amount is taken from each horse during the normal grooming process. Each animal is an individual who's memory lives on in the items made from their hair, even after the animal has passed through my life. All my horsehair is cruelty-free, is not a by-product of the equine slaughter industry and is vegetarian/vegan friendly.

For each purchase of a horsehair bracelet, $5 will be donated to Team Kareem, an animal welfare group dedicated to helping the pyramid horses, donkeys and camels of Cairo, Egypt. If you aren't familiar with their work I recommend that you visit their website at [link].
